Meet Meredith

A Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist, Meredith Ernzen has been providing therapeutic services throughout the state of Kansas since 2008. She previously served the Atchison community in 2013/14 and is returning with her husband and three children after moving out of the area 9 years ago.

She is in private practice as Ernzen Counseling & Wellness, LLC. Meredith graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Family Studies and Human Services in 2004 and a Masters in Family Therapy from Friends University in 2007.

She has extensive experience working with individuals, couples and families, as she has served in various roles since becoming licensed in both clinical and non-clinical settings.

The majority of her experience is ruraly-based, providing her with a strong working knowledge of the unique challenges created due to limitations of rural settings. These experiences have provided Meredith with a passion for serving this population due to it being a historically underserved group in the area of mental health and the unique stressors and challenges that can occur within those in agricultural/ranch-based lifestyles.

The other area in which she feels strongly about serving is that of women’s health. In addition to her clinical work, Meredith also enjoys teaching infant massage as a Certified Infant Massage Instructor (CIMI) where focus is on enhancing communication and bonding between parents and their children from Birth; as well as being certified as a T.R.Y. Trauma Recovery Yoga instructor. Her most recent addition to her qualifications is becoming an AAMFT Clinically Approved Supervisor designee in 2022.

Meredith practices from a systemic and holistic approach to addressing an individual’s mental wellness. She utilizes many different techniques from various therapeutic theories to include Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Narrative, Emotion Focused and other family system interventions; as well as exploring health, hormonal and other physical factors that contribute to an individual’s experience and how this results in their symptomology and functioning within their systems–relationships and other settings.

She currently accepts the following insurances: BCBS, TriCare, CHAMPVA, UMR, United Healthcare, Aetna, KanCare and self-pay. Meredith offers both telehealth therapy and in-person services.

Meredith can be reached by email mernzen2@gmail.com or by phone at 785-262-3074.
