Beth has been working with perinatal families since 2016 when she started Agape Birth Doula Services.  She has served families in Atchison and the surrounding areas ever since, attending births at area hospitals, including facilities in St. Joseph, Topeka, Atchison, and several Kansas City locations.  She has also attended home births and birth center births in the area.  She has continuously maintained her doula certification with DONA International, and has recently completed training in the Body Ready Method® to become a certified BRM® Pro.

DoulA

Beth became passionate about birth support amidst her own various birth experiences, particularly her journey to have a vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC).  While she was researching her VBAC options, she spent a lot of time reading and learning about what women really need to be able to birth well and have the experiences they desire, while still maintaining a safe and healthy environment for the mother and baby. This newfound knowledge, along with her love of working with young adults, paved the road toward her eventual doula career.

Beth sees birth as a time where, among many, many other things, a woman has the opportunity to feel empowered and strong or lost and unheard. It is her desire to help women have the former experience through education of labor and birth practices and through her continual presence during labor and delivery.  Beth uses her knowledge and skills as a doula to help each family achieve the vision THEY have for their birth-day.

Lactation Consultant

Beth has also completed her lactation certification.  As a doula, she was already helping families immediately after birth with initial feeding questions and concerns.  However, she wanted to take that to the next level and be able to offer more in-depth lactation support.  With her Breastfeeding Specialist certification, Beth is able to work one-on-one with moms and their support people to help them prepare prenatally for breastfeeding, to work through issues that may arise with mom or baby while breastfeeding, and to teach classes about breastfeeding, pumping, and other lactation concerns.
